Barca is unstoppable in La Liga
Barcelona manages yet another away victory and moves five points clear on the top from Real Madrid. Barca has been impressive in all their matches this season and it was another brilliant display of quality which showed them as the champions.

Messi, Xavi and Alves all found the net as Barca went on to beat Valladolid 3-0 in their away match. The middle of the season has made things look bright for the defending champions, but there are many more matches in the remaining part of the season.
Barcelona ended all the speculation about their coach through this spectacular display in an otherwise tough match initially. The Catalans had been under a lot of pressure from the host team but the deadlock was broken first in the 20th minute through a superb counterattack.
Dani Alves sent a ball from their own half for Xavi who had to volley home from inside the area. Shortly after the first gal it was Dani Alves again who was moving through the flank and his looping cross found the net this time from the right beating keeper, Justo Villar. The third goal however was setup by Ibrahimovic for Messi in the 56th minute.

In the other matches of La Liga, Sevilla beat Almeria by a solitary goal and Deportivo La Coruna defeated Athletico Bilbao 3-1.
With their win, Barca goes to the top with five points adrift off Real Madrid as they have 49 points from 19 matches. Even though Real won their game 2-0 against Malaga, they are still far adrift of the current Spanish & European Champions.

Leverkusen’s Dream Run Continues in the Bundesliga

The German Bundesliga might have been a bit overshadowed by the Spanish La Liga and the Barclays Premier League, but the Bundesliga still has a lot of competitive football to present.
The attraction has not diminished with Bayer Leverkusen stealing all the attention with their unbeaten run at the Bundesliga this season. On Sunday, they beat Hoffenheim 3-0 with goals from Sami Hyypia, Tony Kroos and Barnetta.

Hyypia opened the scoring in the 11th minute while Kroos and Barnetta scored two second half goals in the 51st minute and the 71st minute respectively. Leverkusen thus has 41 points from 19 matches and they reside at the top of the Bundesliga table. They are immediately followed by the most successful Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich with 39 points.

Meanwhile, FC Koln defeated VFL Wolfsburg in the other match on Sunday. Pezzoni, Freis and Chihi were the scorers for Koln while Gentner and Ricardo Costa scored for Wolfsburg. Bayern Munich claimed top spot for a day, when they beat Werder Bremen 3-2 in a scintillating match on Saturday.
Bayern Munich dominated the match from beginning to start but the hosts were into the lead in about 10 minutes through Aaron Hunt but Munich equalized only after 5 minutes through Mario Gomez. The second goal came from Olic who missed an earlier chance.
All eyes were upon Frank Ribery when he came as a substitute after 3 months of injury. However, Bremen again equalized through Hugo Almeida in the 75th minute. The final blow was dealt by Robben in the 78th minute through a brilliant free kick.
Bayern remain second with 39 points and Schalke are in the third place with 38 points. Dortmund and Hamburg are in the 4th and 5th places respectively.

High drama unfolded at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

The clash of the titans went down to high drama where there were two red cards to Inter, but yet they pulled out a dramatic victory. In this intense rival match between two teams fighting hard for the league with one at the top and the other in the search of closing the gap, nerves were wrecked as the match started and Inter took the lead as early as the 10th minute.
In the 4th minute of the match, Wesley Sneijder had a great chance of scoring, but he shot at the post. The goal was a result of a superbly lofted ball by Pandev for Diego Milito after a missed clearing attempt by Abate. Milito made no mistake firing the ball low past Dida into the far corner.
Then the drama unfolded when Lucio was booked in the 25th minute for diving and Sneijder was sent off straight after his sarcastic applause for the referee. It was high drama into the pitch and after Sneijder was taken out of the pitch, the play resumed in the 27th minute.
Both sides had chances meanwhile, but the second goal came in the 65th minute from a superb Pandev free kick into the top corner of the goal.
In the 90th minute, Lucio was sent off with a second yellow after blocking Huntelaar’s shot with his hand inside the box and Milan was awarded the penalty.
Ronaldinho missed the second penalty this season and the final whistle brought an end to this spectacular match. In some other matches, AS Roma beat Juventus 2-1, Sampdoria beat Udinese 3-2, Palermo beat Fiorentina 3-0 and Siena drew Cagliari 1-1.

Mutu career might be over as he failed to pass a doping test.
He was banned from the game for using cocaine, but he served his time and looked to be completely rehabilitated.
The Romanian had indeed tested positive for sibutramine, an appetite suppressant, and could face a four-year ban.
If he did take a banned substance, it smacks of sheer stupidity, given the price he already had to pay for a previous infringement.
He will have let himself, his club, and his supporters down, and thrown away a second chance that some people are not lucky enough to get.
